Catherine Tate, the ‘Doctor Who’ Star, Will The Olivier Awards 2018



Doctor Who star Catherine Tate will host the Olivier Awards this year along with the British platform honors will get an extended presence on social networking platform Facebook for the very first time.


Tate, who has also starred in The Catherine Tate Show as well as stage performances of Assassins and The Vote, will replace British comedian Jason Manford, who oversaw proceedings annually as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child became the most-nominated new drama in Olivier Award history, with an amazing record-breaking 11 nominations.


The Olivier Awards broadcast on the UK and worldwide and will be held at the Royal Albert Hall, April 8. Nominations will be hosted on Facebook on March 6 at 1 PM.


Ahead of this year's event a four-part series, Road to the Oliviers, will air live on Facebook in March and April. The series will build the excitement of this occasion with romantic performances, interviews with all the nominees and backstage footage from nominated shows.





Tate said, "I'm thrilled to be hosting this year's Olivier Awards. Theatre has always been a love of mine both as a performer and as an audience member. For me, it's the experience that can't be defeated. The memories I have to stay with me after the show has finished is the power of the medium! There is so much to observe within the UK theater scene, and it's my joy to participate in this exciting and inspiring event."
